If you have a large item to dispose of you can either:
- contact a local charity to see if they can use it please note items such as sofas, armchairs and cushions, must have fire labels still attached
- take it to the Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC). Good quality unwanted items are accepted at the Stock Road ReUse shop
- arrange for it to be collected - please note, there may be a charge for this
Free collection
Each household can book one free bulky waste collection per service year. Each free booking can include up to 5 individual items or 1 combination item (such as a three-piece suite). This is subject to availability.
Service year dates:
- service years will run from 1 April to 31 March annually
Booking options:
- when booking, you can choose to use your free slot or pay for a booking
- if you use your free slot, any further bookings that year must be paid for
Free collections are issued per property, per service year.

Landlords
If you are a landlord of a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO) and want to arrange a free or chargeable collection please call 01702 215006.

Prices and how to pay
A maximum of 5 individual items or 1 combined item can be booked at any one time.
Individual items and prices
- 1 individual bulky item - £15
- up to 3 bulky items - £40
- up to 5 bulky items - £60
Combined items and prices
- 3 piece suite/corner sofa (dismantled) - £35.00
- dining table and 6 chairs - £35.00
How do I pay?
When booking online, please have your debit/credit card information to hand before placing your order. Once complete, you will receive an email confirmation of your booking. When booking over the phone (01702 215006) payments are taken and confirmed at the time of the call.
We are unable to make changes to bookings. If you need to cancel and rebook, we cannot guarantee that your original collection slot will still be available.
Making the items ready for collection
You will be given your collection day during the booking process.
Please make sure that items are accessible and placed on the inside edge of your property.
Please put items out by 7am on the collection day.
Furniture containing persistent organic pollutants (POPs) will be collected separately. This may mean two vehicles collecting at different times. POPs are usually found in upholstered furniture like sofas and armchairs. More information can be found on our POPs web page.
