Commuter discount

Southend Pass customers can now benefit from a commuter parking discount, offering a capped daily rate for all-day parking. This initiative is designed to support regular commuters travelling into the city.

Pilot scheme

This offer is currently running as part of a pilot scheme and is available only to Southend Pass customers. The pilot is operating at the following commuter locations:

  • Belton Way West Bays (602035)
  • Belton Way East Bays (602059)
  • Shoebury East Beach Car Park (602016)

Insights from the pilot will help determine whether the scheme is extended to additional locations in future.

How it works

The commuter discount applies when you park for 5 hours or more in these designated commuter parking locations. Eligible customers will pay a reduced daily rate of £6.00*. If you park for 4 hours or less, the standard parking tariff will apply.

To use the commuter discount, all parking sessions must be booked through the Southend Parking app. The discounted rate is not available at pay-and-display machines.

How to get a commuter discount if you are a Southend Pass holder

  1. If you have not already, register for the Southend Pass.
  2. Log onto the app.
  3. Select 'New Parking Booking'.
  4. Enter and select the location code or name (602035 Belton Way West Bays, 602059 Belton Way East Bays or 602016 Shoebury East Beach Car Park)
  5. Once selected, a new box will appear showing your location. Select how long you want to park for. It is important to note that:
    • if you park for 4 hours or less, the app will charge the standard rate
    • if you park for 5 hours or more, you will qualify for the Commuter Tariff: £6.00 plus a booking/admin charge that the app applies
  6. Check the details on the screen:
    • confirm it is the correct vehicle registration
    • confirm you have selected the correct parking duration
  7. Select OK to confirm your booking and to pay as you would normally.
