Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC)

Helpful hints for the HWRC

  • Children and pets must stay in the vehicle for their own safety - these are working sites where vehicles and heavy machinery are constantly manoeuvring.
  • HWRCs are for the deposit of large bulky items
  • Please check to see if your item can be collected using one of the kerbside services available
  • Consider taking old bicycles to the Re-cycle centre at 2 Brunel Road, Leigh-on-Sea, Essex SS9 5JL
  • There is a restriction of one car boot load (with seats up) on soil and rubble. If you have a large amount of these materials, you should consider hiring a skip
  • If the item that you have cannot be either recycled or composted then it can be disposed of in the general waste compactor, which crushes items to go to landfill. The general waste compactor is only to be used if something cannot be separated for recycling or composting
