Resident carer permit
Residents whose addresses fall within a parking permit scheme area may be eligible to apply for a resident carer permit if they require regular home visits from a care provider.
This permit allows carers to park within the designated permit scheme area while attending to the resident during their visit.

Supporting documents required
Applicants must provide evidence for both:
- Proof of address (dated within the last 3 months).
- Proof of the need for a resident carer permit - This may include a letter from a GP, care provider, or other supporting documentation confirming that regular home visits are required.
Acceptable proof of address
- full UK driver's licence
- tenancy agreement (if applicable)
- bank statement (personal info can be redacted)
- solicitor's letter (new residents only)
- utility bills (electricity, gas, or water only)
- benefit letters (from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) only)
Proof of the need for a resident carer permit must be provided in the form of an official letter from your doctor or care provider. The letter must be dated within the last 12 months and:
- Confirm your full name and address; and
- State that you require either 24-hour care or continuous/daily care at the specified address due to a health condition.
Permit application process
Applications may take up to 10 working days to be processed.
It is the applicant's responsibility to allow sufficient time for processing.

Replacement carer permit
If your carer permit is lost, you may apply for a replacement. The replacement permit will have the same expiry date as the original.
