Tradesperson permit

This permit is available to individuals providing a range of services who need to park at different locations across the city to carry out their work. Eligible tradespersons may include, but are not limited to:

  • plumbers
  • electricians
  • painters/decorators
  • photographers

Permit benefits

The tradesperson permit provides the flexibility to park in the following areas:

Validity

The permit is valid during the working day, from Monday to Saturday, between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM, allowing tradespersons to conveniently park while performing their services.

Applicants must provide one document from each section below:

1. Proof you are eligible for this Permit (This could be):

  • Business rates bill or HMRC letter (dated within 12 months)
  • Business insurance (dated within last 12 months)
  • Proof of business registration (e.g. Companies House)
  • Letter from the business owner confirming you need the permit and meet the terms and conditions of the tradesperson permit

2.Proof of Vehicle Ownership (choose one):

  • A copy of Full V5C logbook (not just the keeper slip) showing business address
  • A copy of the motor insurance with business use, registered to you or your business address

Using a Personal Vehicle for Work?

Provide:

  • A copy of your V5C or insurance in your name and address
  • AND a letter/email from the business owner confirming:

o  Vehicle details (make, model, reg)
o  It’s used for work in accordance with the terms and conditions of the tradesperson permit

Permit application process

Applications may take up to 10 working days to be processed.

It is the applicant's responsibility to allow sufficient time for processing.

Please ensure you have read and understood the terms and conditions before you apply for or renew a tradespersons permit.

Changing your vehicle details

Existing permit holders that require a change to vehicle details must submit an application online.

Permit cancellation and refunds

You may request to cancel your permit at any time.

Refunds will be issued on a pro-rata basis for each full remaining calendar month, subject to an administration fee.

No refund will be provided if less than one full calendar month remains on the permit.

Data protection

Information provided in your application may be shared with other organisations for the purposes of:

  • benefit administration
  • fraud prevention and detection
